Job description

Duties include maintaining all fields free of from vines and tall weeds, propping up coffee tree branches, pruning trees, planting trees where missing, harvesting produce, processing coffee cherries, sorting coffee beans and maintaining farm equipment clean. The outdoor work requires the worker to stand, walk up and down hills most of the day. Hence the worker must be able to stand, walk on steep slopes, sit, squad, stoop, knee, crouch, bend from knees, push, pull, reach, lift and carry items of 5 to 60 pounds of weight. Indoor work for sorting beans requires sitting and attending during intermittent periods of time. Red to purple colored coffee cherries are picked one by one with swift finger and manual movements that include accurately dropping cherries in the basket hanging from the waist or from the shoulders. The worker will be paid at a per unit rate is $0.50 per pound of ripe cherries. The worker is required to pick a minimum of 20 pounds of ripe cherries to meet the minimum wage per hour.

Special Requirements

Picking only ripe coffee cherries, excluding green or immature cherries, requires experience.
