Job description

Crops/Commodities: Fertilizer application, drive trucks and operate heavy duty farm equipment to apply fertilizer and crop chemicals to fields. Operate equipment to agitate and transfer fertilizer in storage tanks and bins. Loading and unloading of grain and agronomy products. Apply fertilizer and crop chemicals in field in safe and efficient manner via spray equipment and trucks. Monitor high pressure hose and pump engines while fertilizer is transferred from tanks to farms via truck in field. Workers could drive tractors and operate designated towing machines (trucks, pick-ups) for operation if equipment such as fertilizer tanks, application toolbars, to fertilize crops or transfer grain. Workers may also haul fertilizer and water via tankers from farm to field or tank farm (base worksite location) to field. Use power equipment including but not limited to tractors of various horsepower, mowers, plows, UTV. Seed operations; operation of seed handling equipment, load seed tenders & delivery of seed. Soil Sampling: soil collection, safely operate ATV, probe soil in producer’s fields, bag soil & deliver soil to CVA location. Service farm machinery, pump engines, trucks and trailers make in-field repairs. service/repairs includes but is not limited to: fueling, changing filters, inspecting for wear and or failure, lubricating grease points, inspecting and maintaining fluid levels, tire air pressures, belt and conveyer chain tensions, radiator and filter function, and brake performance, removing and replacing tires, wheels, bearings, belts, wear parts, filters, brake shoes, wheel seals, suspension parts, lights and lenses and chain or chain links. Welding and metal fabrication to repair equipment or create equipment also applicable. Move farm equipment sprayers and drive trucks between worksites. Lift, carry, and load/unload products or supplies. Assist with building field maintenance and repairs. All workers will be responsible for picking up trash, cleaning equipment, mowing grass, delivering and receiving goods and supplies, sweeping floors and other farm sanitation duties. Power wash or rinse out/off fertilizer application equipment between work sites and after worksite job completion. Workers may assist in handling product weighing up to 50 pounds and lifting to a height of 5 feet. Workers must obey all safety rules and basic instructions and be able to recognize, understand and comply with safety, pesticide warning/re-entry and other essential postings. Employer will instruct workers in the safety and operation of equipment before use. Workers must operate equipment in a manner that protects operator, visitors, other workers, products, trees, crops and equipment. Must operate agricultural equipment safely, with or without direction. All machinery and equipment to be cleaned after use. Employer may provide pay increases for performance and experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

Special Requirements

This job requires a minimum of 3 months of verifiable commercial agricultural experience. Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. Clean driving record required. Must attain a CDL within 60 days of arrival and obtain Medical Examiners Certificate in accordance with state law. Must have or be able to obtain drivers license within 15 days following hire. Must be able to communicate in English. Employer-paid, post-hire, upon suspicion and post-accident drug tests will be conducted to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination. Employer will pay overtime.
