Job description

This job includes a combination of tasks related to the pruning, and spot harvesting of apples, cranberries, grapes, and pumpkins. Worker will lift approximately 50 pounds while on a ladder up to 16' feet tall, they will carefully harvest only the correct size and color apples. The crew manager will explain the minimum size and percentage of color for quality standards each day along with consistently monitoring bruising which must be less than 5%. Work is outdoors in adverse weather conditions; hot, cold, wet, etc. One month Agricultural work experience including harvesting; apples, cranberries, grapes or pumpkins required. This job is best suited to fast/careful individuals. Some apple harvest will be conducted without ladders or picking drops. Normal harvest using ladders and from the ground are at a higher piece rate. Picking apples from the tops of the trees only with ladders will be at a higher rate. Harvesting Honey Crisp and carefully clipping the stems is at the highest rate. Quality standards are expected to be met after the 1/2 day training. Production standards will increase from 50% to 75% to 100% by the third day. The crew manager will explain the minimum size and percentage of color for quality standards each day along with consistently monitoring bruising which must be less than 5 %. Equipment driving is optional, you do not need to drive to be successful at this job.
