Job description
Temporary full-time positions in Franklin, LA with Sterling Sugars, LLC during Louisiana Sugar Harvest Season. These workers will be assigned to the Mechanic Shop (not in the sugar mill) and will report directly to the Mechanic Shop Foreman. The workers will assists skilled mechanics in making minor repairs and routine maintenance on agricultural machinery used in the hauling of sugarcane during harvest season (i.e. cane trailers, cane tractors and cane harvesters). Supply mechanics with tools. Maintain hauling equipment. Assist in minor repairs such as changing tires, parts replacement, and performing brake jobs. These workers will not perform skilled mechanic work such as rebuilding an engine. These workers will not work on the state-of-the-art sugar mill equipment located within the mill used in the processing of sugarcane (will work only on agricultural sugarcane hauling equipment within the mechanic shop). Overtime hours will vary. During Harvest, shift work: will be required to work various 8 hour shifts (7AM to 3PM; 3PM-11PM; 11PM-7AM). Must be willing to work overtime. Must be willing to work 7 days per week. On-site lodging offered at no charge to workers hired in this temporary seasonal position. No minimum education required. No on-the-job training provided. Three (3) months employment experience in job offered on sugarcane hauling equipment is required. Higher pay may be available to workers with extensive experience.
Special Requirements
OVERTIME HOURS WILL VARY. DURING HARVEST, SHIFT WORK: WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK VARIOUS 8 HOUR SHIFTS (7AM TO 3PM; 3PM-11PM; 11PM-7AM). MUST BE WILLING TO WORK OVERTIME. MUST BE WILLING TO WORK 7 DAYS PER WEEK. ON-SITE LODGING OFFERED AT NO CHARGE TO WORKERS HIRED IN THIS TEMPORARY SEASONAL POSITION. NO MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED. NO ON-THE-JOB TRAINING PROVIDED. THREE (3) MONTHS EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE IN JOB OFFERED ON SUGARCANE HAULING EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED. HIGHER PAY MAY BE AVAILABLE TO WORKERS WITH EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE.
