Job description

Workers must be able to monitor and adjust equipment and controls. Some
controls maybe touch screen controls. Maintain machinery and equipment to
ensure that it is clean and in safe working order. Perform routine maintenance on
equipment and adjust or repair when necessary, using hand and power
tools while being 30 feet in the air. Must not be afraid of heights. Replace
defective parts components or systems. Prepare trucks for hauling according to
Federal and State regulations. Worker must be able to walk, bend and sit for long
period of times. Work is done in all kinds of weather (from extreme heat, rain and
extreme cold). Hauling time may vary due to the availability of crop,
weather conditions, mechanical issues etc. * Safety training for use of farm
equipment and tractors will be provided. To ensure the safety of all employees,
those interested in operating machinery must be able to communicate with and
adequately follow instructions given by management. Management reserves the
right to restrict employees from operational duties who do not show proficiency
to effectively communicate with management and may therefore place other
employees’ safety in risk. ** ** The ability of an employee to safely operate
machinery will be left to the discretion of management.
Head Pressman – During operation, this position supervises and operates the
press, assists in tying out bales, constantly checks on lint slide in tramper. When
not tying out a bale, workers will stand or sit where he can observe machinery.
When choke-up or breakdown occurs, the head pressman will lock out Press, take
Press Assistants and report to Ginner to help clear up the trouble. During
lubrication and cleanup period, the Head Pressman checks and lubricates tramper
and condenser, checks belts and drives, cleans condenser flue, and checks
exhaust fans to make sure all are working properly.
Press Assistants – During operation, these workers will keep press supplies
available, lay out ties or set up strapping materials, feed ties into the press, assist
in tying bales, weigh bales, tag and truck cotton to dock or truck, perform general
housekeeping, and assist Ginner in clearing up choke-up or breakdown. During
the lubrication and cleanup period, Press Assistants report to the Ginner to assist
in inspecting, lubricating, and cleaning machinery.
Lint Cleaner Operator – During operation, workers will keep grid bars clean, check
trash conveying system, check for irregularities in the flow of cotton, assist Gin
Stand Operator as needed, keep machines and floor clean, and may assist Ginner
in clearing up any choke-up or breakdown. During Lubrication and Cleanup
Period, the workers will be responsible for opening all inspection doors, check and
clean condensers, check lint flue for tags, clean machines, and floors around
them, and let the superintendent know of any irregularities.
Module Feeder Operator – During operation, workers must direct module truck
drivers to the feeder, remove tarps from the module, roll up tarps, operate
module feeder, keep trash away from feeder trash tarp, and keep guards on side
of module feeder.
Mote Press Operator – During operation, workers will operate press and cleaners,
keep all trash and lint cleaned up, weigh and record bale weight and numbers,
truck bales to the dock, keep lint evenly distributed in box, check on all belts,
bearings, pulleys, and motors, and help tarp seed cotton modules and trailers.
During the lubrication and cleanup period, workers will lubricate necessary
bearings, clean and dress belts, and clean the machinery and the building.
Forklift Operator – Workers must have general knowledge and training in safe
forklift operation and maintenance and authorization to operate forklift for the
company. During operation, workers will inspect and service forklift at the
BEGINNING of shift and document it, perform maintenance and make repairs as
needed, use proper Person Protective Equipment when operating

Special Requirements

Must be 18 years old or older. A valid Drivers' License required to transport workers to fields and grocery store. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and communicated with supervisor when needed. Lifting requirement may have a range of 60-100 lbs. All tools, supplies and equipment will be provided at no cost to workers. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Workers should expect periods of little/no work due to weather conditions beyond employers control. Hours and days of work may vary due to weather conditions. Most of the workday is spent in agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, humid, and other natural elements.
