Job description
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Clearing ground of rocks, sticks & roots by hand, clear brush and trees with chain saw. General field & fence maintenance. Use wood to build and repair boxes for digger. Manually weeding fields by hand or using hand tools. Participate in irrigation activities. Drain water from fields with hand tools and shovel when needed. Haul hay. Load & unload boxes on trucks or trailers. Repair, maintain and clean all hand tools and mechanical equipment prior to and after use. Cut firewood. Stack Lumber. Build or repair barns. Cotton-Thin out young cotton. Load, pack, and haul raw cotton to gin using specialized lifting and moving loader equipment, workers will move cotton modules within individual farmers’ fields to higher, drier ground as needed, repair tears in module plastic to prevent loss of cotton during transport to the Gin, and will separate moldy, damaged cotton from good cotton, suitable for ginning, leaving cotton not suitable for ginning in the field, communicating with supervisor for directions and solutions if leaving damaged cotton may be prudent. Job duties will be operating farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest, and store grain crops. Forklift- Workers will check and maintain proper fluid levels and refill propane tanks. Workers may also operate tractors and loaders. . * Safety training for use of farm equipment and tractors will be provided. To ensure the safety of all employees, those interested in operating machinery must be able to communicate with and adequately follow instructions given by management. Management reserves the right to restrict employees from operational duties who do not show proficiency to effectively communicate with management and may therefore place other employees’ safety in risk. ** ** The ability of an employee to safely operate machinery will be left to the discretion of management. May drive workers to field and or grocery in farm truck. Corn- Workers will perform seed corn receiving, silage, sorting, and dryer load and unload out duties as it pertains to harvest see corn crop and kernels. Job duties will be operating farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest, and store grain crops. OFLC Administrator publishes new AEWR rates yearly and we reserve the right to adjust our job order to the new published rate regardless of rate increases or decreases. Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker, at the employer’s discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to, performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work rules and ability to follow supervisor’s instructions.
Special Requirements
Must be 18 years old or older. A valid Drivers' License required to transport workers to fields and grocery store. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and to communicate with supervisor when needed. Lifting requirement may have a range of 5 - 100 lbs. All tools, supplies and equipment will be provided at no cost to workers. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Workers should expect periods of little/no work due to weather conditions beyond employers control. Hours and days of work may vary due to weather conditions. Most of the workday is spent in agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, humid, and other natural elements.
