Job description

Crewleaders will supervise workers to make sure they are doing an adequate job. Duties may vary from time to time. Grove Clean-up: Crewleaders may be required to perform miscellaneous grove clean-up work. These activities may include picking up trash from groves and maintaining/cleaning portable toilets. Crewleaders may be asked to operate farm equipment, vehicles, fruit loaders and ATVs in groves and any other equipment related to harvesting crops. **Safety training for use of farm equipment will be provided. Management reserves the right to restrict employees from operational duties who do not show a proficiency to effectively communicate with management and may therefore place other employees’ safety at risk. May be asked to load fruit onto fruit trailers using fruit loaders. May be asked to haul fruit (using semi-truck) from groves to packing house (located on farm). May also be asked to unload/reload packing house bins using fruit loaders. Crewleaders may be asked to repair ladders and tubs and move ladder trailers with pick up trucks or fruit loaders. Crewleaders may be asked to help maintain harvesting equipment such as: fruit loaders, tubs, ATV’s, fruit tailers/loaders & ladder trailers. May be asked to harvest fruit, if needed. May be asked to drive passenger vans to transport workers to/from housing, laundry mat, fields, grocery, and may also be asked to transport injured workers from field to clinic. May be asked to help maintain/clean vehicles. Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker, at the employer’s discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to, performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work rules & ability to follow supervisor’s instructions.

Special Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years or older. Must be able to drive and be able to obtain a Florida Drivers License. CDL required, if asked to drive semi-trucks. Employer may conduct a criminal background check on all new applicants for employment. There is a lifting requirement of 90lbs. Workers must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance to repeat the picking process rapidly, working quickly and skillfully with their hands. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to the worker. Proper work attire is required. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. Random drug testing may occur post hire at the employers expense. No cell phone usage during working hours. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and to communicate with supervisors when needed.
