Job description

Planting, pruning, shearing, lenght regulation, side shaping, cut away dead and excess branches from trees, using handsaws, clippers, shears. Water, root-feed seedlings, herbicide application, tree spraying with backpack sprayer, and fertilizing as directed by supervisors, in order to comply with the company's maintenance program to protect the fields from diseases, insects, pests, and environmental problems. Trim jagged stumps, clear sites and grounds of woody and herbaceous materials, such as tree stumps and fallen trees and limbs; cable, brace, tie bolt, stake trees and branches. Apply tar or other protective substances to cut or seal surfaces, and to protect them from fungi. Transplant and remove trees and shrubs. Worker should be able to push up to 75 lbs, and be able to lift up to 65 lbs. Harvest trees and prepare them for shipment; harvest includes packing trees, bailing, and loading into trucks. Operate farm equipment used in harvest, including balers, elevators, small tractors and other automated devices. Work in cold, wet or hot weather; field work and farm clean up tasks to include picking up the garbage, removing debris, and other hand tasks. Drive tractors, spray and mix chemicals and fertilizers, operate of agricultural equipment (worker will receive proper training to be in compliance with state laws that require additional training for individuals handling pesticides/herbicides, etc.); all job activity will be limited to the farm.

Distance per day:
Harvest up to 2 miles a day
Spring (planting, spraying and fertilizing) up to 5 miles a day
Summer (Shearing & Top straightening) up to 2 miles a day
Fall (tagging, counting) up to 5 miles a day.

Weather conditions that the employees need to know that are possible:
Christmas tree harvest - occasional rain. Temperatures average 40-60 degrees
Spring - occasional rain. Temperatures average 50-70 degrees
Summer - generally warm to hot, 70-90 degrees
Fall - occasional rain. Temperatures average 50-75 degrees
