Job description

This job requires a minimum of three (3) months of general farm labor experience. The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period will be related to general farm work; Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties which include the following: maintain, drive, attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment, bushhogging, hoeing, cutting grass, spraying weeds, hay harvesting, hay baling, loading and unloading of feed, grain and hay, disbursing feed, grain and hay to cattle; building, maintaining and repairing fence, make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery; service farm equipment, maintain roads and buildings, mow grass, dig ditches; remove undesirable and excess growth of nuisance grasses and weeds on farm grounds; weed control, clearing of brush with hand tools, machinery paint/repair farm structures; perform general clean-up of farm areas; operate all-terrain vehicle in the course of performing duties. Other duties as assigned, include: mix feed/additives and feed/water livestock; place mineral blocks; open/close gates to sort cattle; daily inspection of all waters; move cattle to the appropriate pasture; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; vaccinate animals; apply medications to cuts and bruises. spray livestock with insecticide; confine livestock in stalls; calve approximately 100 head of cattle, recognize and treat problems with newborn calves; load and unload animals from trailers; herding, sorting, castrating; maintain buildings and equipment used to care for livestock. Must be reliable and able to perform assigned tasks capably and efficiently. Work includes working outdoors in inclement weather.
