Job description
Attend to live horses. Duties include feed, water, bathe, exercise, walk and load horses. Clean and maintain stalls. Each worker will be responsible for taking care of at least 6 horses daily, including but not limited to following duties: Clean stalls, remove soiled bedding by pitch fork into wheel barrow, empty wheel barrow by pushing up a ramp into muck wagon, this may weigh in excess 100lbs, refilling wheel barrow with clean shavings to replenish bedding in stalls. Empty, clean and refill 5 gallon water buckets for each stall, clean feed tubs. Twice daily check temperatures on horses by inserting a thermometer into rectum of the horse. Lead horses to and from paddocks, wash racks, walking machines, hand walk select horses for extended periods of time, exercise horses, bathe horses daily. Brush horses daily pick and paint hoofs, tend to minor injuries and apply bandages. Do laundry involved with daily care of horses. Keep barns and surrounding areas clean and tidy. Help move bales of hay from storage area to barns bales weigh between 50-150lbs, fill feed cart (bags of feed weigh 50lbs). The anticipated range of hours for different seasonal activities is 40 - 72 on a rotating basis.
