Job description

Production Group Leader will lead the establishment and ramp-up of automobile production at a large, high-volume manufacturing facility, using cutting-edge automotive manufacturing operation techniques. Production phases will include Assembly, Body Weld, Paint, Quality Inspection, Stamping, and lead of production teams. As a part of the above, and on an ongoing basis will: Directly coordinate the activities of Production Team Members and operating workers, conducting precision production of Mazda and Toyota automobiles in a large-scale manufacturing plant setting. Oversee Production Team Members, either individual or in teams of 10-20. Establish strong team member relations, at all levels and provide support for people development, coaching, and mentoring with a focus on teamwork and inclusion. Collaborate with Japanese Advisors from Mazda and Toyota. Create Production improvement strategies relative to KPI achievement and support Team Leaders through Production Team Members in translating those strategies into concrete action plans by use of Floor Management Systems. Lead and coach Production Team Members to achieve hourly/daily objectives. Ensure alignment of activities to support the business plan for vehicle production. Share information and communicate goals. Support TAKT change planning, line rebalancing, trials, and training activities. Support new automobile model activities. Create team leader development plans and coach individual Production Team Members. Support introduction of new automotive assembly technologies when applicable. Develop and standardize work instructions for each vehicle production process. Support shop safety initiatives and manage timely implementation of countermeasures to resolve problems. Ensure daily process quality and coordinate activities with the team to improve assembly quality. Promote problem solving activities within the team. Identify waste in Production processes and implement activities to improve efficiency. Cultivate a workforce that is representative of Diversity and Inclusion initiative. Coordinate tasks across 2nd shift, rotating shifts, and shutdowns. Shifts are: 7:00 am to 3:45 pm & 7:00 pm to 3:45 am.

Special Requirements

Demonstrable knowledge of automotive manufacturing team management; automotive production processes and equipment; manufacturing process environmental requirements, and; coordinating cross-functional processes.
