Job description

Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of mink and cattle. The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period, however, will be related to livestock production.
General Farm Work will include the following responsibilities: maintain, drive, attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment; make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery; remove rocks from field; paint/repair/maintain farm structures; replace/repair fencing; perform general cleanup of farm areas.
Duties related to the production of livestock will include the following: Check physical characteristics, observe general condition of livestock and apply the appropriate care; examine animals to detect illness/injury/disease/rate of weight gain; apply or administer medications, vaccines and/or insecticides; grind/mix/process feed/additives; feed/water livestock; thaw frozen water hoses/lines; place mineral blocks; drive equipment to haul/distribute feed/water; herd or move livestock; confine livestock in stalls; repair/clean/disinfect building/pens/stalls/sheds/boxes; dock, castrate, brand, clip/tag and clamp livestock; maintain records on animals; hoist/stack bales of hay onto wagon/truck.
Workers will also engage in all aspects of mink harvest, including: count/grade/sort/select animals for harvest; euthanize and skin mink; assemble boxes for shipping produce; place produce in containers; grade pelts; prepare for next breeding season.

Special Requirements

Applicants must have 3 months experience with mink/farm work.
