Job description

CY Farms, LLC is engaged in a seasonal farming operation which includes three (3) basic crops: crawfish, rice, and soybeans. These three (3) crops are planted and harvested in successive and overlapping order.
CY Farms, LLC has a need for labor beginning in November so that the fields can be prepared for crawfish season. Crawfish ponds must be drained and prepared, and levees must be repaired before the ponds can be flooded again in order for the crawfish to be seeded and grown and eventually harvested. Crawfish harvesting begins in December and continues through June.

CY Farms, LLC then must prepare rice fields for planting of rice in or around March. Soybean fields must then be prepared so that soybeans can be planted in May. Harvesting of rice and soybeans occurs in late summer and fall.

DUTIES INCLUDE MANUALLY CUTTING UP FISH BAIT, BAITING AND CHECKING TRAPS, GRADING AND WASHING CRAWFISH FOR SHIPMENT; MAKING AND REPAIRING TRAPS AS NEEDED; TRACTOR DRIVING, FIELD PREPARATION*; WATER MAINTENANCE; FERTILIZING, PLANTING, AND HARVESTING CROPS.

*FIELD PREPARATION INCLUDES MANUAL SHOVEL WORK AND HOEING WEEDS, SPOT SPRAYING TREATMENTS, GENERAL FARM LABOR AND EXTENSIVE WALKING.

REPAIRING AND MAINTAINING FARM EQUIPMENT, FARM, FIELDS, LEVEES, ROADS, AND SHOPS

3 MONTHS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Special Requirements

Workers may be required to take random, post-accident, and/or upon suspicion drug tests POST HIRE AND AT THE EXPENSE OF THE EMPLOYER. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. It is important to CY FARMS, LLC that employees remain drug free while working and operating equipment as part of its farming operation.
