Job description

Job duties include the operation of various farm equipment to tend to livestock and transport livestock, hay, and feed as needed. Duties also include manual labor such as loading and unloading semi-trailers, cleaning feed bunks, checking water tanks and performing maintenance on water tanks, performing maintenance on feedlot equipment, and performing corral maintenance. Job also requires processing incoming cattle, which includes vaccinating, weighing and tagging; tending to livestock in the forms of feeding, examining, and herding; sorting and shipping livestock; conducting the repair and maintenance of farm equipment and fencing; regularly cleaning and servicing equipment; mixing feed, lifting bags of mineral; identifying and treating sick livestock; assist with vet visits, assist with medication administration; and cleaning pens. Daily tasks may vary from site. Snow removal & site/yard maintenance will also be performed on an as needed basis. May need to drive to town to pick up cattle supplies.

Special Requirements

Minimum of 1 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post-hire at employers expense due to the liability of driving trucks on public roads. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive walking is required. Overtime and taking holiday is mandatory. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
