Job description

Perform duties like: Chopping ice from livestock waterers and fixing any issues with the waterers that might be frozen. Monitoring the heifers calving in the barn at night time, being able to recognize the cows about to calve in the next few hours or getting help from another person to pull a calf from the cow having trouble calving. Loading feed and feeding cattle from the tractor with the feed wagon, requires knowledge of how to handle large tractors, and PTO shafts. Assisting with birth for pt time heifers and being able to recognize those cattle that are in need of assistance. Feeding and watering in the barn for those heifers that have newborn calves. Moving snow with shovels and tractors. Putting newborn calves in the warmer if they are cold. Feeding calves with a tube for those in need of assistance (Must have experience with inserting the tube down their throats.) Feeding twin calves milk from a bottle twice a day if they have been taken away from their mothers, due to a lack of care from the mothers.

Special Requirements

Minimum of 6 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Must be able to lift a 75 pound calf. Lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive pushing and pulling is required. Extensive sitting is required. Extensive walking is required. Frequent stooping is required. Repetitive movements is required. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
