Job description
December: prepare corn stalk and wheat pasture for grazing with temporary hot wire, winter mineral tubs, watering troughs; put cows on winter wheat and corn stocks for grazing; put out mineral and feed cattle with trucks and small tractors to supplement diet and reduce risk of bloat (causes death to cattle grazing on winter wheat); January-March: calving cows and heifers; tagging calves as they are born; checking cow and calf health daily; administer medicine as necessary and within 2 hours of birth; sort calves into working facilities; tracking calf gender and growth; scrape manure out of pens; break ice in watering facilities; pull calves and cows off stocks and wheat pasture (at hollow stem), sort and sell weaned calves; check grass pasture fence, move cows to pasture.
