Job description
Job duties will include working with cattle in the feed yard which includes but is not limited to feeding cattle; transferring cattle between pens; performing general care duties; operating a feed truck; mixing and grinding feed; watching over the hay grinder equipment; loading the feed truck; administering feed rations; serving and maintaining the feed truck; ensuring watering sources are clear of debris and checked daily; monitoring pens to prevent smothering; segregating sick cattle into separate pens for monitoring and medication administration; keeping alleyways, feed bunks, and water sources clear of snow or excessive moisture; removing snow from around buildings and feed supply storage areas; transferring cattle between pens; opening and shutting gates; working cattle in chutes; and administering vaccinations. Employees will operate equipment such as skid steer loader and hay grinder. Workers will also be required to calve cows and bred heifers and occasionally lift and carry newborn calves. Employees must have or be able to obtain a driver’s license within 30 days of hire; 3 months of experience; and basic English literacy, reading, and math skills. Increase or bonus may be possible depending on experience and merit.
Special Requirements
Lifting may be required during feeding, watering, and other care taking duties. Employees will be working in cold temperatures.
