Job description

Workers will perform any of the following tasks to attend to livestock, such as on-farm. Maintain heated watering system; operate feed wagons. Mix feed and additives, fills feed troughs with feed and water for livestock; Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; Vaccinate animals by placing vaccine in drinking water or feed using syringes and hypodermic needles; Apply medications to cuts and bruises; spray livestock with insecticide. Confine livestock installs washes, clips them to prepare them for calving, and assists veterinarian in the delivery of offspring. Binds or clamps testes or surgically removes testes to castrate livestock. Clip identifying notches or symbols on the animal, or brand animal, using branding iron to indicate ownership; clean livestock stalls and sheds using disinfectant solutions, brushes, and shovels. Maintain buildings and equipment for the livestock. Repair Fences, corral, and barn. Move and reconstruct barn buildings. Workers will perform general farm labor. Bail and Store soybean and rice. Workers may drive grain trucks to transport crops from storage to mill. Workers may disk ground to get ready for planting crops, inspect, maintain, and winterize farm equipment and machinery. Workers with driver license may be asked to drive workers from/to housing, worksite, and grocery store. Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker at the employer’s discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work rules & ability to follow supervisor’s instructions.

Special Requirements

Must be 18 years or older. The employer may conduct a criminal background check on all new applicants for employment. (Owner's Expense). Valid Drivers License required to operate the companys vehicles. All tools, supplies and equipment will be provided at no cost to the workers. No minimum education required. 3-month experience in livestock and open range farming. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. The majority of the workday is spent on ones feet and outdoors. Workers may stand in one place for any period of time. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach and lift, extensive walking. Work is performed in outdoor agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold and other natural elements.
