Job description
Work in inclement weather (rain, heat, cold, hot, humid) Workers will be manually planting blueberries by hand. Workers may lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Work in inclement weather conditions including extremely hot, humid, cold, and/or rainy weather to maturity of the plants. Workers will be manually planting blueberry plants along with weeding, sorting, carrying, transplanting, grading, cleaning. Workers will install irrigation. Workers may lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Workers must be careful to place the plant all the way into the ground. Workers will
also be given plants to be transplanted in the fields. Workers will mend fences, clean barns, pick up trash. Three months of verifiable farm-work experience required. Tools are provided by the employer at no cost. Must show proof of legal authority to work in the USA. Must be 18 years old. Long sleeve shirts and long pants are recommended to minimize contact with the plants and thereby reduce the exposure to cuts and scrapes caused by the plants. Perform prolonged walking over uneven ground in dusty or muddy conditions, bending and reaching. Workers must adhere to all safety rules as instructed by the supervisor. Workers must take care to handle tools, equipment and produce in a manner to avoid injury or damage. The employer will comply with all federal, state, and local safety requirements.
Operational specifications can change during the season due to crop or marker condition. Workers will be expected to conform to the specific instructions given for each days work. Instructions and general supervision will be provided by the employer or a designated employer. Workers will be expected to perform their duties in a timely and proficient manner and will have close supervision to ensure adherence to instructions. Workers will also pick, carry, dump blueberries by hand into buckets. Work will be closely monitored and reviewed for quality. Daily individual work assignments, crew assignments, and location of work will be made by the employer or designated employee as the needs of the operation dictate. Workers may be assigned a variety of duties in any given day and different tasks on different days.
Special Requirements
The employer will only conduct a drug test only if the worker (employee) is in a work-related accident. The drug testing will be at the employers expense. If the worker fails the drug test or refuses the drug testing, this will be probable cause for termination of employment.
