Job description

We calve out 3,000 head of calves. We are spread out, so it takes a lot of labor to cover the area in an efficient manor. When it snows, we need all hands on deck to get snow removed and cattle fed as well as breaking ice. During these months we run shifts so that we have eyes on cows and heifers to ensure we don't lose any calves. From November to March, the employee will be tagging calves, giving shots to calves after being tagged, branding calves, hauling calves with livestock trailer from field to field, and employee must have ability to recognize a sick calf/cow. Employee will assist with breaking ice, will be driving and taking care of equipment, running a bale processor and cleaning twine when done with use, building electric fence around circles, and building fence around pivot points. Employee will need to complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment. Employer may provide pay increases for performance and experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

Special Requirements

Job requires extensive walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive movements, frequent stooping and exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Employer will conduct post-hire, random drug tests at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination. Employer will conduct post-hire criminal background checks at no cost to the employee and will not employ anyone with a felony/theft criminal background. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Job requires a regular drivers license within 30 days of hire. Require 3 months experience.
