Job description

Six (6) full-time, temporary coffee farm worker positions available. Perform the duties and responsibilities at a coffee farm located in Honokaa, Hawaii as follows: Garden and organize the coffee farm. Pick ripe coffee cherries. Pulp coffee cherries to separate the skin and pulp from the beans. Sort and dry coffee cherries. Organize and clean up the warehouse. Fertilize the coffee trees. Assist coffee roasting. Prune the coffee trees removing dead, damaged, and diseased branches. Mow the lawn. Remove weeds from the coffee trees. Organize and clean up the warehouse. Implement and practice safety rules and procedures. Inform farm management/owner of crop harvesting process as needed, and any and all operational problems or concerns.

Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body such as walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, stretching, twisting, kneeling, and handling of materials repetitively for extended periods of time. Must move and lift up to 50 pounds. Extensive pushing and pulling. Extensive walking. Frequent stooping. Overtime/Holiday is not mandatory.

Work is performed in typical Hawaii climate conditions: mild temperatures (50-84 degrees F), moderate humidity, northeasterly trade winds, and periodic rainfall. Minimum education and experience: high school diploma not required, previous coffee laborer experience not required, employer will train. Allergies to fertilizers, insect spray, etc. may affect workers' ability to perform the job. Work requirements may vary due to mechanical situations, availability of crop and weather conditions.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3 pm for a total of 40 hours a week. Overtime is not expected but may be requested depending on crop availability and weather conditions. All tools and equipment required to perform duties will be provided at no charge to workers. Position is temporary from January 1, 2023 to August 31, 2023.
