Job description
Employer has a temporary/seasonal need for a ranch hand to assist with sheep and cattle husbandry during the months of slow grazing/birthing and calving. Workers core responsibilities will be to care for the health of sheep, maintain grazing plans for sheep, herd sheep using an ATV, care for livestock guardian dogs, and to occasionally work with cattle. Workers daily activities include animal husbandry, checking sheep and cattle in pasture to confirm the health and safety of the animals, herding sheep to a new pasture, gather-sort-doctor sheep and cattle, operating a truck or ATV, building and maintaining needed infrastructure, checking water infrastructure to confirm no leaks or problems, building and maintaining fencing, vehicle maintenance. Workers must posses a drivers license to transport livestock locally, be able to lift 50 lbs regularly, work in heat and cold and work well alone or on a team. This position is closed in the months of November and December due to the decline of calving and sheep sold at market.
Special Requirements
Hours listed in Section A.6 are the anticipated hours to be worked. These hours could increase or decrease based on weather conditions, crop delay, pests or disease, crop yield, available labor, and or productivity.
