Job description

The employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the worker's refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such worker's willful damage or destruction of the tools.

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time.

Strawberry Planting: Workers will place the strawberry plant in a machine dug hole. Worker will fill in hole on all sides making sure the strawberry plant is securely in place.

Strawberry Harvest: The top of each flat or clamshell will be hand-placed correctly, meaning only the red of the strawberries will be shown in the presentation. All pint cups are to be covered where they are not seen. Each worker will get rows at the beginning of the season and that will be their row all year long. It is the workers responsibility to maintain the upkeep of the rows, including cleaning the bushes each time you pick of berries not suitable for sale (too small, deformed berries, rotten, etc.)

Cutting Strawberry Runners: Move down the rows and cut and remove all strawberry runners as instructed.

Tomato Harvest - Grape, Plum, or Cherry: Unless otherwise instructed, only tomatoes that have broken color on the bottom (turning pink) are to be picked. All green tomatoes are UNACCEPTABLE! Grape tomatoes will only be picked red & high orange - no pink, no breakers and no green. All buckets will be filled to the top without being "shaken" (making it appear more tomatoes are in the bucket than there really are).

Staking: Move down row and pound in wooden stake next to each plant as instructed.

Tying: Move down row tying plant to stake as instructed.

Plastic and Drip-tape Removal: Unhook drip-tape from main water line, walk down row while pulling plastic down the bed until it is completely removed. Take removed plastic to burning station located at the end of row.

Squash Harvest: Move down assigned row and pick proper size, shape and color of squash, place into container and when full, take to field shed.

Pepper Harvest: Move down assigned row and pick proper size, shape and color, place into a container and when full, take to field shed.

Bean Harvest: Worker will move down assigned row picking all mature beans. Beans are placed into a container.

Pea Harvest: Move down row, pick peas and place in bucket until bucket is full.

Watermelon: Workers will be required to turn watermelon vines from drive-rows. Instruction will be given for each task and standards of performance communicated to worker. Workers will be assigned a row or series of rows and required to select and pick produce according to criteria outlined and demonstrated by managers such as size, coloring, and ripeness.

Watermelon Harvesting: The worker will walk thru the field and cut only those watermelons that are ripe. The worker will take the watermelon to the field truck. Repeat process.

Cantaloupe Harvesting: The worker will talk thru the field and cut only those cantaloupes that are ripe. The worker will take the cantaloupe to the field truck. Repeat process.

Onion Harvesting: Pick mature onions out of the ground. Onions will be sorted by small, medium and large sized and placed in bins.

Weeding: Workers will remove weeds by use of a hoe from the walk-way and remove all weeds growing around plants by hand.
