Job description
Seine stock ponds to harvest stocker catfish and transfers to grow-out ponds Feed fish [hand or mechanical feeder] Monitor and correct oxygen levels in pond water, observe fish behavior and physical condition Harvest food fish from ponds and loads fish onto trucks for transport wades in the pond to position net using a foot to keep the mud line of the net on bottom,
Repair spawning containers and place into brood ponds. Check spawning containers by feeling inside container for any fish or spawns. Remove spawns from containers and move to the hatchery where spawns will be prepared and placed into the hatching troughs. Transfer fry to nursery ponds. Feed nursery ponds by hand and feeder multiple times per day. After spawning, remove spawning containers and consolidate brood fish to holding ponds. Monitor water temperature and oxygen levels in the holding and fingerling ponds; feed the fingerlings and broodstock fish; maintain pond areas by removing weeds, grass, etc.
Performs typical farm and pond maintenance levee repair and maintenance, pull weeds, mow grass, clean and store equipment, etc. uses seines, dip nets, waders, gloves uses oxygen meter and/or chemical test kit,
Special Requirements
Able to drive tractor, able to swim-ponds are 4-6 deep. Work outside Some heavy lifting (60 lbs.) Hours of work may vary due to weather conditions etc. Able to perform physically demanding job duties. Must be available for entire contract period and able to perform all job duties. Hours of work may vary due to weather conditions and job duties. Workers will only drive on farm property. A drivers license is not required to drive farm trucks on farm roads or to drive farm implements,tractors etc. Applicants meeting all qualifications required must possess documents to complete INS Form I-9 and be available at time and place necessary to begin employment.
