Job description
Drives and operates farm machines such as tractors equipped with GPS to perform specified farm activities like plant, cultivate, harvest, store crops such as soybeans, rice; Hitches soil conditioning implement to tractor, and operates tractor and towed implement to furrow and cultivate soil; Drives tractor and operates seed drill or planter to plant crops; Tends sprinkler system that irrigates land: Lays out poly along designated settings in field; Connects using hand tools; Starts engine and adjusts controls of sprinkler system across field and starts pump that forces water through system to irrigate crops; Observes sprinklers to ensure uniform distribution of water to all areas; Disassembles system and moves it to next location after specified time intervals; Prepares harvesting machine by adjusting speeds of cutters, blowers, and conveyors and height of cutting head or depth of digging blades according to type, height, weight, and condition of crop being harvested, and contour of terrain; Drives self-propelled harvesting machine to cut, thresh, clean, store crops; Drives farm vehicle; minor daily and incidental upkeep to equipment and worksite.
