Job description

Workers will plant, water, weed, harvest, arrange and pack cut flowers. Work included preparing and maintaining the fields and greenhouse for planting and harvesting, lift/move crates weighing 50lbs. Packaging will include moving harvested flowers to barn and greenhouse and placing flowers into cooler, pulling cut flowers out of cooler, bundling, arranging, wrapping, re-packing, and loading on to truck for delivery. Workers may be required to lay fabric and irrigation. Post-harvest workers will be required to clear the fields, barn, greenhouse, and other farm premises of trash residue from the cut flowers. Workers will also be required to pull up and put away the drip lines and field cover once harvest is complete. Work may also include mechanized work using mowers and weed eaters. Workers will be expected to be able to operate machinery, mowers and weed eaters with or without direction. In addition, workers may be required to perform variable tasks such as the following: Irrigation, ditching, shoveling, weeding, hoeing, hauling, and other tasks related to general farming. Workers will work on general farm building and property maintenance. 3 months of verifiable prior experience working on a cut flower farm, indoors and/or outdoors, handling both manual and machine tasks associated with flower production and harvest activities.

Special Requirements

Work is to be done for long periods of time, requires repetitive movements, extensive walking, bending, stooping and kneeling. Care must be taken to prevent damaging plants. Workers are expected to perform duties such as loading and unloading of products on trucks that weigh up to 50 lbs. Workers must physically be able to perform planting, mowing and heavy lifting with or without reasonable accommodations. Workers are exposed to wet weather early in the morning through the heat of the day, working in fields. Temperatures can range from 10 to 100 F. Drug testing will be performed post hire, and at the employers expense, upon reasonable suspicion of use or after an accident. Refusal to take or failure of a drug screen is immediate grounds for termination. Hours listed in Section A.6 are the anticipated hours to be worked. These hours could increase or decrease based on weather conditions, crop delay, pests or disease, crop yield, available labor, and or productivity
