Job description
This job requires a worker to: Perform general field labor across our different fields in order to plant, maintain, and preserve the plant product in order to produce the most abundant and quality crop. Job duties may vary with regard to the amount of time spent on certain duties.
Additional Duties:
Assist in general duties, such as pruning, applying pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizing crops; hoeing, planting, caning, maintenance of fields, and assisting when needed to harvest and inspect crops by hand.
Repair or disassemble farm posts, fences, etc.
Load/Unload products into trucks.
Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow, and fertilize the soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray crops.
Assist when and if needed to set up and operate irrigation equipment.
Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungi, and weeds
Move shrubs, plants, and trees with wheelbarrows or tractors
Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops.
Assist in any other areas where you might be needed for agricultural operations.
Workers may be expected to ride upon machine berry harvesters in order to provide a visual inspection of the berries harvested thereon.
All other duties assigned under this order will be those duties of Farm Worker, Diversified Crops, under the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment Statistics Standard Occupational Classification Code 45-2092.
Special Requirements
- Training: There will be a demonstration period of 6 days to familiarize workers with the job specifications and to demonstrate proper work techniques, safety methods, and/or specific job requirements.
- Basic job requirements:
* The job offered requires that the worker be available for work every day that work is available for the full period of employment. The worker agrees to be available for work and perform the assigned work for the assigned employer whenever work is available through the full period of employment.
* Fieldwork begins at an assigned time shortly after daylight. Work may be performed during light rain and in high humidity and in temperatures up to 95 degrees F. Workers may be required to work in the field when the ground is wet with dew/rain and should have suitable clothing for variable weather conditions.
