Job description
GENERAL FARM RANCH WORKERS must perform any combination of the following tasks to attend to the production of livestock: provide supplement feed and water for livestock from March and April (prior to moving livestock to the summer range); assist with calving, examine livestock to detect diseases and injuries; assist with the vaccination of livestock by herding into corral and/or stall or manually restraining animal on the range; applies medications to cuts and bruises; spray livestock with insecticide; assists with castration of livestock; clips identifying notches on or brands animals; manually clean stalls/corrals. Move cattle to the range to graze on natural grasslands from June to September (no feeding required). Yearlings are shipped in October or November. Worker is required to work with many different types of farm machinery for soil preparation, and the baling of hay. Worker will be required to drive and control farm equipment for the production of hay and make minor repairs on the equipment they operate. Mechanical skills and experience are required to drive a John Deere Green Star GPS. Minimal fencing will be required along with facility and grounds maintenance. To work as an agriculture equipment operator requires physical coordination, decision-making ability, mechanical aptitude and driving skills. The job entails working outdoors in all types of weather (extreme heat, cold, wind, dust, rain and snow). Worker must crouch, bend, lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Worker is required to obtain a Montana drivers license within 3 months. 3 months experience is required. Increased wages or bonus may be possible depending on experience.
