Farm Worker

Job description

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Tasks include, but are not limited to harvesting, planting, weeding, plant maintenance, general farm activities, and tractor driving. Workers may routinely lift up to 60 lbs. Role includes periods of bending, reaching, and walking on uneven surfaces. There will be an initial training period of one week. Though not a hiring requirement, if a worker drives a company vehicle during the period of employment, then at the time of operating the company vehicle the driver must possess a valid driver's license issued by a U.S. state or foreign equivalent and operate the company vehicle in accordance with the license restrictions and vehicle classifications applicable to that license. Job is outdoors and continues in all types of weather. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not part of the interview process. Use of personal cell phone or other personal electronic device during working hours is prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies and violation may result in immediate termination. Workers must not hinder another worker's productivity.

Harvesting: Worker will walk to the designated plant bed assigned for harvesting. The worker will be assigned a row and in a bending position the worker will harvest cuttings with a guide to the specified size as indicated by the supervisor. The worker will continue to harvest plants until the indicated quantity has been reached. The cuttings are placed in a plastic bag which are then placed in a cardboard box and loaded to a cart once the box has been filled.

Planting: The worker will walk to the designated plant bed assigned for planting. The worker will be given plant cuttings which will be planted in the plant bed as specified by their supervisor.

Weeding / Plant Maintenance: The worker will pull weeds from the plant bed and harvest plants to maintain plant bed.

Tractor Driving: Worker will drive tractor to designated plant bed. The driver will take carts with harvesting supplies to the field for the workers and will load and unload boxes with harvested cuttings.
