Job description

Duties may include: Assist with general calving operation such as examining calves to detect illness, injury, or disease and provide treatment, medication, and vaccines as needed. Monitor weight gain of calves, help wean from cows and switch to grain/feed diet. Assist in branding, sorting, and herding of cattle. Assist in winter maintenance on equipment such as maintaining and/or repairing of feeding and watering equipment and breaking ice dams. Assist in feeding cattle during winter months while the herd is not able to graze, assist in feeding duties for cattle to achieve proper weight to go to market. Assist in maintaining and/or repairing fencing, & other related Livestock Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2093 (onetonline.org).

Possible weekend/holiday work.

Special Requirements

Must be 18 due to equipment use. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Static strength; exert max muscle force to lift, push, pull, unload, carry objects up to 65lbs (possible 2-person); may climb, walk, stand, reach, balance, sit, stoop, bend, squat, wash, clean: equip, grounds, area. All applicants must be able, willing, qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified and work throughout all areas of intended employment. Based on Employer's discretion/cost: Worker may have random drug/alcohol testing during employment: positive test/refusal to abide = dismissal. Possible background check post hire at employer's expense. Variable weather conditions may apply. Worker must be able to obtain a valid Driver's License in the State of Michigan within 2 weeks of reporting to work.
