Deckhand/ Headers

Job description

Duties may include: Prepare trawler for shrimping, put nets into water, retrieve them. Sort/head shrimp. Place shrimp in baskets, rinse, dip in preservative, get nets back into water to resume shrimping. off load catch, assist captain and rigger & other related Deckhand/ Headers activities as per SOC/OES 45-3031 (onetonline.org).

Overtime possible, but not required or guaranteed. At Employer’s sole discretion: possible raises and/or bonuses based on individual factors such as work performance or skill (not guaranteed). Possible production bonus of 7-10% of daily catch, not to go below the prevailing wage. Work is performed on board employer owned commercial shrimp trawler for up to 60 days at a time.

Possible weekend/holiday work.

Special Requirements

Must show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Perform physical activities: such as lift, balance, walk, stoop, handle, position, move, manipulate materials use static strength to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, carry objects up to 50lbs. Delivery and availability of seafood product from fisherman may result in possible downtimes due to weather conditions.
