Job description
Workers will lead a crew of tree thinning laborers, including coaching, supervising, directing, training and evaluating crew performance. Workers may also participate in the following activities: Pulling 100lb metal cable up steep slopes for 300' to winch logs Wrapping large piles of brush and fallen trees with cable and chains Covering piles with tarps to keep the wood dry into the fall Clearing and hauling fire fuel (branches and brush) to burn/chipping piles Depending on experience and aptitude- chain sawing 2”-8” dbh trees and limbs Manual lopping of branches with loppers and hand saw (80-90% of the job) Cutting brush with Stihl brush cutter, Echo extended hedge trimmer, and chipping debris.
Special Requirements
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
Experience with chainsaws preferred
Experience with tractors, wood chippers and a logging winch is a requirement
Ability to stay motivated with sometimes mundane work of thinning with loppers/handsaw
Must be a problem solver and have sold knowledge of mechanics and electricity
