Job description

Assist in all aspects of pre plant preparation & field work, planting, spraying cultivating, and harvesting field crops such as cotton, corn, hay, wheat, peanuts, ryegrass, oats. Help maintain the quality of crops by operating machinery and doing physical labor under the supervision of a farm owner or manager. Build and maintain fences in order to protect the crops from invasive species. Employees will assist in cleaning up land for row crop production, manually removing small sticks and rocks from the field. Machinery to be operated includes, but is not limited to, tractors (both with & without front end loader), Combines, Cotton Pickers, Hay balers, hay rakes, hay cutters, grain carts, planters, rippers, cultivators, sprayers, peanut harvester, tedders, disc, bulldozers, excavators, front end loaders, fork lifts, telehandlers, trailers, bush hawgs, spreader buggy, spreader truck. Hand tools will be used for manual procedures when required; hand tools include but are not limited to, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, bungee cords, air pressure gauges and pumps, grease guns, hydraulic, air, and manual jacks, heavy duty chains, ratchet hauling straps, knives, machete, chainsaw, files, and air wrenches. Drive and control farm equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, and harvest crops. Perform task such as cutting, raking, and baling. Diagnose, adjust, repair, overhaul, and maintain farm machines and vehicles. Lift and move heavy parts and tools, handle greasy and dirty equipment, and stand or lie in uncomfortable positions. Transport vehicles, equipment, and crop products among fields or to other destinations, as required. Ensure that field trucks are fully equipped and supplied. Load and unload grain bins and perform general maintenance (grease bearings, replace augers, sweep floors, etc.). Workers will be expected to maintain the grounds by mowing the grass and keeping the grounds clean. Be able to speak English. Be prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the environment. Work is performed in extreme heat, cold, humidity, dust, sun, rain, soil, dust and other natural elements. Removing invasive weeds and sticks from fields. Communicate and follow instructions from supervisor. Driving farm vehicle. Minor daily and incidental upkeep to equipment and worksite.
