Job description
Job requires operating various farm equipment to prepare the land, plant, irrigate, spray, cultivate, and harvest crops. Equipment that employees operate includes but is not limited to tractors with various implements attached, farm trucks, side by side, 4-wheeler, backhoe, grain cart, disc, drills, harrows, seed carts, planters, bush hog, mowers, bedders, cultivators, power units, electric wells, ditchers, and box blade. Irrigation duties include but are not limited to maintaining power units, servicing wells, and working with/maintaining poly pipe as needed. Employees will perform mechanical repair and maintenance on farm equipment, buildings, and farm housing; drain water from fields; mow around the farmstead as needed; loading and unloading grain bins; and cleaning and working in/around the grain bins as needed. Manual duties include but are not limited to roguing in fields by walking and pulling weeds by hand; installing and removing levee gates; shoveling rice levees; picking up, installing, poking holes, and removing poly pipe from fields; scooping and sweeping in the grain bins; welding and working with steel; maintenance; and yard work duties such as mowing, spraying weeds, and painting around the farmstead. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
Special Requirements
Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills are required. Employees must be able to lift 100 pounds. May be exposed to extensive sitting/walking; frequent stopping/bending; and extreme temperatures.
