Job description

Seasonal orchard workers will be outside in all weather conditions in the apple orchards, including below freezing, snow, light rain, temperatures above 80 degrees, and lifting and carrying 30 pounds. In the winter, they will trim trees. They will be expected to In the spring, they will trim trees, plant trees, and do orchard establishment work including tying up trees, painting tree trunks, pulling weeds, and installing irrigation. In the early summer, they will thin the crop. At times if other work is complete they may clean and clear fence rows and farm buildings, picking rocks and roots, and cutting suckers. The job will include regularly using loppers and hand saws, ladders, and hand pruners. Other materials used include tree tie, irrigation tubing, paint, and hoes. At times other hand tools may be used. Workers are expected to listen closely to instructions provided by the supervisor and complete work efficiently and accurately. Extensive standing and walking will be required. Extensive standing and walking on uneven and at times steep terrain will be required, and workers should be prepared to be on their feet and in bent positions for long periods of time. Workers will not be required to work on their Sabbath or on federal holidays, though work will still be offered if the field conditions warrant it.
