Job description
General worker needed for corn, crawfish and sugarcane farm. Work includes tractor driving, field prep, water maint, fertilize, plant and harvest of crops. Field prep includes operate farm equipment, manual shovel work and hoeing of weeds, spot spray and gen farm labor. Help repair and maintain bins, buildings, containers (scaled 6-50 feet high), dams, equip/machinery, farm, fences, field, levees, ponds, properties, roads, and shop. Load and unload trucks as needed. May operate motorized crawfish boat and/or walk/push boat. Crawfishing involves manually cutting up of fish bait, set traps, bait and check traps. Carry field wagons with pieces of sugarcane, walk behind the wagon and hand-plant pieces of sugar cane in rails at designated intervals. Workers should extend and pull to remove stems from the trailer, while bending and / or bending, placing, straightening and planting pieces of sugarcane. Use hand tools such as machetes, hoes, knives, shovels, hand tampers, and trowels. Grade, wash, sack, and ice crawfish for shipment, make and repair traps as needed. Pickup/deliver crawfish as required. May deliver crop to coolers or market, haul to containers, dryer or mill. Worker must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. M-F, some Sat/Sun, work in excess of 40 hours may vary. Employees may be compensated above the stated hourly wage,this decision to pay above the prevailing hourly wage will be made by the employer, basing this decision on factors that include the individual recipient's performance and work history. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray and related chemicals and pesticides, etc. may affect workers’ ability to perform the job. Employer may require post hire, random, upon suspicion or post-accident drug testing, all at no cost to employee. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. Job involves stooping, lifting and working outside in inclement weather. Must have 3 mo exp in similar position
