Job description

Plant, cultivate, harvest, and pack blueberries, and palmetto berries; and prune berry bushes. Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, and knives. When buckets are filled, the worker will take to the supervisor who then punches their picking card, dumps the berries carefully without damaging the berries and gives picking buckets back to harvester to begin the process again. Grade and sort products according to specified factors and discard defective, inferior and/or foreign matter. Place acceptable products in specified containers according to grade. Prune and thin bushes according to supervisor's instructions. Load mulch on trailer and move to fields. Unload and spread mulch around plants as needed. Remove weeds and grass from around the bushes and from the row middles, maintaining a 3 to 5 foot weed free strip between rows. Clean fields when harvest activities are complete. Participate in irrigation activities, such as set up, maintain, repair, and operate irrigation equipment. Till soil and apply fertilizers and pesticides.
