Job description

Performs any of the following tasks to attend to livestock: We run a large-scale beef cow/calf operation as well as feedlot. Calving season runs late March-Mid June calving out around 500 head which entails checking/tagging with color and number system and assisting with delivery if needed. Fixing and maintaining fence at calving pastures as well as summer pastures. Feed/watering pairs in the shed 2x/day. Bedding calving pens including cleaning out with wheelbarrow and pitchfork and re-bedding. Fill hay racks with feed until summer grass is growing. Moving pairs to summer grazing pastures including vaccinating cows and calves. Examine animals for any illnesses/injuries and treat animals if needed. Assist veterinarian with bangs vaccinating replacement heifers(spring), semen testing(summer) and pregnancy checking(fall). Branding replacements heifers to identify ownership. Checking summer pastures including water source, putting out mineral and assessing animals. Must be comfortable driving pick-up and stock trailer for helping haul pairs to summer grass.

Special Requirements

Minimum of 1 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Must have some experience with calving. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive pushing and pulling is required. Extensive walking is required. Frequent stooping is required. Repetitive movements is required. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
