Nursery Worker

Job description

Manual planting, harvesting shrubs, ornamental plants, trees, flowers (45%). Spraying, pulling, loading and unloading plants (15%), use hand tools (5%) (shovels, trowels, sprayer, hoes, pruning hooks, shears, etc.). Duties include tilling soil, mulching, transplanting, weeding, thinning, pruning, applying pesticides, fertilizing, grading, sorting and packing (10%). Working in nursery facility (5%), irrigation and cultivation duties (5%). Minor maintenance and operation of farm equipment (5%). Farm, field and shed sanitation duties (5%). Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, fertilizers, pesticides, insect spray and related chemicals, etc., may affect workers ability to perform the job. Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, twisting, kneeling, and handling of material repetitively for long periods of time. After hire, workers may be required to take a random drug test as part of fitness for duty at employer's expense. Work is done in all kinds of weather from extreme heat, cold and rain. Time may vary due to mechanical availability, crop growth and weather conditions.
