Job description

All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in box 3 & 4, page 1 Workers are needed to plant, maintain and harvest diversified ground crops. Workers must have the knowledge of soil tillage and the ability to apply fertilizers and pesticides, operate and repair farm machinery. Workers will perform other activities related to production of crops. Workers will work in the greenhouse planting and transplanting seedlings, as well as planting and transplanting crops in the field. Workers will perform field work of weeding, thinning, hoeing and other duties related to the planting, maintain and harvesting of crops. Workers may work in a storage building washing, culling, and preparing produce for storage, distribution or sale at the farm stand. Workers must be willing to work in varied weather ranging from extremely cold in the spring and fall to hot, humid summer days. Work is physically demanding requiring workers to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods of time. Workers must have ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Workers must be available to work Saturdays. Workers will use hand and power tools including but not limited to: shovels, hoes, pruners and irrigation pumps. Employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform duties assigned. Beginning and ending times will vary depending on the crop conditions. Workers must be able to take direction in simple English.
