Job description

Perform manual labor to landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment. Lay sod, mow, trim, plant, water, fertilize, dig and rake. Operate powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws. Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge and brush trimmers, and axes. Mow and edge/trim lawns, using power mowers and edgers. Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls. Water lawns, trees, and plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans. Haul or spread topsoil, and spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place. Trim and pick flowers, and clean flower beds. Decorate gardens with stones and plants. Rake, mulch, and compost leaves. Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws on the ground. Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes. Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs, and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools. Gather and remove litter. Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, and other grounds features. Maintain irrigation systems, including winterizing the systems and starting them up in spring. Workers who have a valid driver's license may drive vehicles to transport workers.

Special Requirements

No education or experience required. Requires physical stamina. Work outdoors, in extreme temperatures, and in adverse weather. Must lift and carry 50 lbs. Five (5) company t-shirts provided at no cost and are to be worn at all worksites. Drug free workplace. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be carried out equally between U.S. workers and H-2B workers at the employer's expense. Negative results required prior to starting work. Post-hire background check required of foreign and domestic workers. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact working hours.
