Farrier

Job description

Prepare, clean, organize, maintain, and disinfect shop to prepare for new season. Select rubber and/or steel shoes; fit, shape and attach shoes to animals hooves; remove worn and defective shoe from hoof; examine hoof to detect bruises and/or cracked hooves; and repair, trim and shape hoof.

May perform other job duties pursuant to 39-2021, Nonfarm Animal Caretakers.

F.a.5a-F.a.6b: 35-50 hours/week, 0-20 OT hours/week; 7+ hour shifts; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; 5-6 days/week (Sun-Sat, schedule varies and includes weekends; business is open 7 days/week)

Special Requirements

High school diploma or GED required. Certificate of completion from Farrier program or 2 years farrier training. On-the-job training will not be provided.
