Job description
Workers will assist in two main areas for on a farm for a farmer, this includes dry fertilizer application and grain bin
erection.
Prior to the application portion of the job workers will be expected to study for and obtain a commercial pesticide
license. During the application portion of the job workers will: Mix dry fertilizer or other crop production products
(chemicals), load truck with dry fertilizer or crop production products as well as load spraying equipment including
spray applicators, tractors, and any safety equipment needed to handle the materials. Once arriving on the farm site
workers will unload all necessary equipment and materials and apply dry fertilizer with a 2014 TERREGATOR TG9300
floater or crop production products with a 2010 JOHN DEERE 4730 sprayer.
Workers will also assist in the erection of new grain bins. For farms without existing concrete pads workers will use
power tools, levels, and saws to build and secure concrete forms. Once the form is built workers will pour, smooth, and
treat concrete to prepare for building of the grain bin. Workers will then use metal saws, welders, power tools, grinders,
and some ladders to erect Grain bins according to the farmers needs.
During down time some shop maintenance, grounds maintenance, tractor/sprayer maintenance such as oil changes,
tire changes, and other mechanical maintenance might be required.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Commercial custom applicators license is required and will paid at the employers expense. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Drug screen is required due to the liability of driving heavy equipment and trucks on public roads. Failure to pass drug screen will result in termination of employment. Employer requires drug screen post-hire at employers' expense due to the liability of driving trucks on public roads. Failure to pass drug screen will result in termination of employment.
