Job description
Manually plant, cultivate, and harvest vegetables, fruits, & garden flower annual & perennial crops. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, & knives. Cultivate/prepare land & greenhouse beds to grow products such as fruits, vegetables, hay, and grain. Workers will plant greenhouse crops, irrigate crops, prepare plants for sale, and move crops as necessary. Workers will prune and thin perennial fruit crops outdoors along with pruning and thinning live trees. Participate in irrigation activities; lay drip tape & plastic; pick up at the end of the season. Plant/transplant seeds/seedlings/trees; weed, thin, prune, & inspect crops/plants; spray fertilizer, pesticides, & herbicides to fertilize & control insects, fungi, & weeds. Install bird netting & other crop protection. General clean up & maintenance of farm grounds, greenhouses, barns, storage facilities & access to fields as well as ground areas around all farm buildings. May construct trellises; repair fencing & farm buildings as needed. Operate, maintain, & repair farm machinery, equipment, & vehicles. Dig up or move field grown shrubs, plants, & trees. Stake trees, tie, wrap, & pack to fill orders; cut, rake, tether, & stack hay. Harvest crops. Load/unload wagons & trucks to transport & prepare crops for sale & delivery to markets. Post harvest treatment of crops and hay; inspect/sort, clean, package, & load harvested products/produce. Job tasks include operation of tractors, farm equipment, trucks, all terrain vehicles, and other machinery.
Special Requirements
Mon-Sun. Rotating 6 day schedule. Average of 45 hours per week. Start/end times will vary. 1 month experience required working on a farm. Random drug testing (post employment). All drug testing is performed without regard to an employee's citizenship or immigration status, and all testing is paid for by the company.
