Job description
All work is performed at the packing facility located on the stone fruit farm- peaches, plums, nectarines. The essential tasks of the Packline Sanitation position include:
Dry cleaning, foaming and rinsing washer-waxers and dumpers.
Dry and wet cleaning on: grading table to metering elevator, load belts and spill belts, return belts, carrier cups, chutes, top belts, pack table curtains and deliveries, pack tables, packing station netting and framework, cull grading area, Compac camera box, wood planks and floor under and around sizers or volume fillers.
The Packline Sanitation Laborer performs sanitation work on fresh fruit packing equipment with company-provided tools, company-provided personal protective gear, cleaning agents, and chemicals. Performing sanitation responsibilities requires standing, walking, climbing stairways, lifting, lying on back and stomach for extended periods of time, and handling different materials of various sizes and weights up to 50lbs. It requires being able to tolerate long work hours at night during summertime prevailing temperatures. This position also requires the ability to maintain awareness of industrial and fruit packaging equipment, including the ability to perceive and respond appropriately to industrial sounds and warnings, such as industrial vehicle traffic, horns, etc. This position requires the safe handling of cleaning agents and chemicals, safely working on packing equipment including climbing stair ways, walking on wet floor surfaces, and wearing personal protective equipment like coveralls, bump caps, kneepads, footwear, along with hand and eye protection for certain tasks.
Quality Standards
Work area will be inspected and must be visibly clean including no visible fruit, stickers, buildup and debris. Pack tables will undergo Adenosine Triphosphate ("ATP") swab testing to ensure the area is in sanitary conditions for the Packline to commence its daytime operations. The passing score for the ATP test is under 10,000rlu (relative light units). Tools and equipment will also need to be put away in the corresponding location at the end of each workday and before rest and meal breaks.
Safety Standards
Employee must comply with all Company workplace safety policies and procedures which are reviewed and provided during initial orientation. This includes but is not limited to: General Orientation, Lock-out/Tag-out, Food Safety, Hazard Communication, Confined Space, Evacuation, and Heat Illness Prevention Training.
Workers may occasionally and/or sporadically perform duties associated with and directly related to the primary duties. Such work will be temporary agricultural labor.
Special Requirements
Must have at least 1 month of verifiable work experience in the last year in sanitation, janitorial work, or another position with similar physical demands to those described in this job order. Applicant must provide a signed letter confirming this experience in the last year where the majority of time (more than 50%) was spent performing these requirements and demands. The letter must be signed by a company representative from said employer or affiliated agency. Specific requirements include lifting up to 35-50 pounds frequently and able to use hand tools. Must be able to work under conditions where skin and clothing become heavily soiled with mud, water, grease, etc. Must be able to tolerate and work in confined spaces for extended periods of time. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including rain, cold, high winds, etc.
