Job description

Duties may include: Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery, spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers or machines, operate or tend equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, combines, and irrigation equipment. Adjust, repair, and service farm/applicator machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions, drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, fertilizer, or tools. Assist in mixing and filling tanks of fertilizer and herbicides, & other related Ag Equipment Operator activities as per SOC/OES 45-2091 (onetonline.org).

Possible weekend/holiday work.

Special Requirements

Must be 18 due to equipment use. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Static strength; exert max muscle force to lift, push, pull, unload, carry objects up to 50lbs; may climb, walk, stand, reach, balance, sit, stoop, bend, squat, wash, clean: equip, grounds, area. All applicants must be able, willing, qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified. Based on Employer's discretion/cost: Worker may have random drug/alcohol testing during employment: positive test/refusal to abide = dismissal due to safety procedures. Variable weather conditions may apply. Worker must be able to obtain a valid Driver's License in the State of Illinois within 2 weeks of reporting to work. Worker may undergo the State of Illinois NH3 Safety Training.
