Workers Needed:
a. Total: 11
b. H-2A: 10
La Fortaleza seeks certification for 10 H-2A workers and 11 total workers. Of the 11 total workers, 1 will be domestic worker who do not require housing.

JOB DUTIES:

Workers will be assigned to plant, prune, harvest, disk, and mow almonds:

Planting: Workers will use shovels to plant crops and, with the assistance of a mule, will spread the trees on the farm field.
Pruning: Workers will use poles and loopers to prune the trees.
Harvesting: Workers will shake the trees, sweep, and pick up nuts with tarps and poles.
Disking: A disk is attached to the back of a tractor and workers will drive the tractor through the orchard.
Mowing: Workers will cut the grass through orchard with a tractor and mower.

Special Requirements

Specific requirements include lifting up to 25 pounds frequently and being able to use hand tools, including cutting knives. Must be able to work under conditions where skin and clothing become heavily soiled with mud, water, grease, etc. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including rain, cold, high winds, etc. Work involves frequent bending and working in bent or stooped positions. Must be able to walk and stand up extensively. No smoking, alcohol, firearms in the field or residential housing.
