Position Description: The Seasonal Farm Supervisor will report to the Farm General Manager and assist in coordinating activities related to production, harvest, and marketing of Organic Japanese Vegetables.

Key Responsibilities:

Crop Production
• Assist General Manager and Farm Foreman with crop plants, seeding, planting, irrigating, and harvesting crops.
• Monitor cucumber plants, soil fertility, and help transition current production methods to incorporate biodynamic techniques.
• Assist with crop planning and recording of crop yields.

Harvest Coordination
• In conjunction with farm foreman and Farm Manager, help supervise the harvest and post-harvest handling of crops while maintaining rigorous quality standards.
• Communicate harvest goals, updates, and changes to the crew.
• Working closely with the General Manager to obtain customer orders and coordinate harvest for retail markets, restaurants, and CSA customers.
• Communicate crop availability or shortages to customers and maintain a positive working relationship with customers.
• Participate in harvest, washing, and packing of vegetables as needed
• Maintain harvest and sale records.

Inventory and crop management
• In conjunction with General Manager, monitor inventory levels and sales of crop volume to various distribution channels and/or use for Value Added Products.
• Load-in and out of produce for all customers.

Supply Management
• Order supplies as needed for crops, general operations.

Special Requirements

2 years of experience in organic farming is required. Specific requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds frequently. Must present strong knowledge of Japanese vegetables and their uses in traditional Japanese cuisine. Must be an individual who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, maintains a positive attitude, has strong interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic.
