Job description

Assist with daily farm functions including, but not limited to, the following: Manually plant, cultivate, and harvest produce. Use hand tools, shovels, hoes, tampers, brooms, rakes, pruning shears, and ladders. Workers will handle and climb a 20 ft ladder while carrying an apple picking bucket harnessed over the shoulders. Pick rocks to prepare soil for planting. Prune apple trees. Pick up brush from orchard floor, repair broken bins, and plant and water trees. Clean, pack, sort, slice, box, load and transport harvested products. Set up and operate, repair and maintain equipment, vehicles, tractors, forklifts and tractor drawn machinery, ie, spreaders, mowers, plows, cultivators, disks. Work with small engine equipment. Assist in the production of apple cider; peel, slice apples and other apple products. Crops: apples

The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the worker to reach production standards. When harvesting apples, productivity must be at least 60 1-1/8 bushel boxes per 7 hours worked with no more than 5% bruising for fresh market.

Special Requirements

Able and willing to work in varied weather conditions including hot, humid summer days during harvest.
