Job description

Workers must be able to plant, cultivate (staking and tying), trim, prune, harvest, sort, and field pack, blackberries, peppers, cucumbers, jalapenos, squash, tomatoes, cabbage, and eggplants. Plant produce by hand placing into pre-dug holes along rows. Pick developed blackberries, peppers, cucumbers, jalapenos, or tomatoes from bush and place into bucket, making sure that plant is picked clean of all fruit and vegetables and that they are the correct size and maturity. When bucket is full, carry to dumper on truck that is moving through rows alongside workers, being careful not to bruise fruit and vegetables. Cut squash, cabbage, and eggplant using a knife and place it into bucket, making sure it is picked clean of correct size and maturity. When bucket is full, carry to dumper on truck moving through rows alongside workers. Workers will stake/tie and inform managers of crop progress. Remove stakes, strings, plastic and dig ditches. Set up, participate, and operate equipment in irrigation activities. Repair drip irrigation. Duties will also include: cleaning the greenhouse, spraying nursery, pulling weeds and loading trucks. Operate, simple repair, clean and maintain farm equipment and vehicles. Workers will be required to perform daily farm maintenance, clean production areas, facilities, and work areas. Work will be closely monitored and reviewed for quality.

Special Requirements

Workers must be 18 years or older. Three months experience in manually planting, cultivating, harvesting, grading, sorting, and field packing; blackberries, peppers, cucumbers, jalapenos, squash, tomatoes, cabbage, and eggplants. The employer may conduct criminal background checks on all new applicants for employment (Owner's Expense). All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to workers. Lifting requirement 5 - 40 lbs. Workers should expect periods of little/no work and hours/days will vary due to weather conditions beyond the employers control and daily hours may be extended due to planting and harvesting demands. Workers may stand in one place for any period of time. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach and lift. Work is performed in outdoor agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold and other natural elements. Workers should come
